Firefox is one of the best browser and my favorite. It supports many add-ons, has got many themes and personas. But over a period of time Firefox takes more time to load, consumes more memory. The reason behind this is Fragmentation of Profile Database. This will increase the loading time taken by Firefox and makes it slower.

Here is a Firefox add-on which will Defragment Firefox ‘Profile’ Database. This will reduce lag while typing in the address bar and the start-up time taken by the browser.

Once the add-on is installed, you need to choose ‘auto-clean’ option. This will automatically check for any Fragmentation and auto clean places.sqlite in Firefox.

Follow these Steps to Configure Auto-Cleaning:

• Click on ‘Tools’ > ‘Add-ons’ to open ‘Add-ons’ Window

• Click on ‘Options’ button placed under add-on named ‘Vaccum Places Improved’

• Select auto cleaning and set Time Interval

If you want to clean up the database yourself then check ‘Hide Status bar icon’ and set time interval to display an icon in the status bar since last cleaning.

All you need to do is click on the icon; this will clean the database and Speed up Firefox.
